Education

From the very beginning the sisters were involved in education. As time progressed sisters were found in parish schools and universities in the United Kingdom, and on the west and east coast of the United States. We, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, retain our commitment to education by our presence in the institutions and their boards. Sisters and associates also minister directly in education in a variety of settings.

St. Joseph's School for the Blind
St. Joseph's School for the Blind, the only school for the blind in New Jersey, has been providing specialized services to individuals with visual impairments since 1891. Today the school provides specialized services from birth through adulthood for individuals with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities. St. Joseph's School for the Blind is committed to the educational, psychological, social and physical development of persons with special needs in an environment of caring, acceptance and respect for each individual's rights and dignity.

Holy Name Sister Claire Tynan School of Nursing
Holy Name School of Nursing, located in Teaneck, New Jersey, offers both a Registered and a Practical Nurse program. The Registered Nurse Program is a highly competitive registered nurse diploma program, affiliated with St. Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey. The program is accredited with the New Jersey Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. An optional A.A.S. degree in health sciences is also available through a collaborative agreement. The Practical Nurse program is a 12-month practical nurse diploma program accredited with the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
